Nottingham East Midlands Airport is both one of the youngest and the fastest growing airports in the UK. Having started life quietly as a former RAF base; East Midlands airport began to realise its potential during the 1970's and left the aviation doldrums behind. The airport's geographic location (at the heart of England) made it ideally placed for handling freight, and with massive financial investment in the airport's infrastructure its commercial wing also took off. Today Nottingham East Midlands Airport handles more than 4.5 million passengers each year and its future has never looked brighter.

Nottingham East Midlands Airport enjoys good road and rail connections with rest of the UK, especially the cities of Nottingham, Leicester, Sheffield and Derby. The airport has a variety of parking solutions, so you should have little difficulty finding something tailored to your needs.
For short stay parking at East Midlands airport follow the Express Parking signs. The car park is targeted at people wanting to leave their vehicles for up to 24 hours, including those who want to pick-up or drop-off family and friends (waiting is not permitted on the terminal forecourt). Express Parking can not be booked in advance; you simply drive up and take a ticket at the entrance barrier. For convenience the car park is located next to (and within walking distance of) the terminal.
East Midlands airport boasts four mid stay car parks, which are collectively referred to under the umbrella term Executive Parking. Only one of the car parks can be pre-booked, so you'll have to make reservations early if you want to ensure the best price. Executive Parking caters primarily for business travellers and anyone taking a short break. If you want to stay longer than four days; you're better off opting for the Long Stay car park. The Executive car parks are a few minutes walk form the airport buildings, but there's a regular shuttle bus for anyone who would prefer to be driven.
Disabled travellers are allowed to use the short stay car park at the same tariff as the medium/ long stay car a parks. They may also use the dedicated pick-up area in front of the terminal buildings.
East Midlands airport's long stay (or Economy) car park is far and away the cheapest option. Further reductions of up to 20% can be had by booking at least 24 hours in advance. If you don't have time to make a reservation it is possible to simply turn up, but you'll have to pay a financial premium. As well as being the cheapest the Economy Parking is also the furthest from the airport. On a practical level this means that you'll have to add an extra half an hour to your overall journey time - to safeguard against any possible delays involved in catching the shuttle bus (although it takes just a few minutes).
