Glasgow International Airport handles approximately eight million passengers each year and is home to more than 40 airlines serving 80 destinations. It's the busiest airport in Scotland and the forth busiest in the UK. The airport is situated eight miles to the west of the city centre and enjoys good public transport links. If you're travelling by car Glasgow airport is best reached by leaving the M8 motorway at Junction 28.

GLASGOW AIRPORT MAPIf you're quickly dropping someone off (or picking up) you can do so on the terminal forecourt, but parking is forbidden. Anyone planning a lingering farewell will need to leave their vehicle in one of the short stay car parks. Glasgow international airport has a choice of three short stay car parks which are all operated by NCP. Each of the short stay parking options is conveniently located within walking distance of the terminal buildings. Car park 2 has taken advantage of its proximity to the airport (it's the closest of the three) by providing a special Fast Track facility. Naturally you'll have to pay a premium, but it's a small amount to cut down on hassle. Because there aren't any payment machines in the car park itself you must remember to settle up before returning to your car. This can be done at the entrance to level 2 and on the ground floor.
Vehicles can be left in the short stay car park for as long as you like, but if you intend to be longer than three or four hours it begins to make financial sense to look at long stay parking. With Glasgow airport's ongoing expansion the number of satellite car parks is reaching bewildering proportions. As a rule of thumb you should be able to find a parking space for less than £5.00 a day (the figure drops considerably if you book in advance) but you'll have to weigh up the pros and cons of each.
Long stay car parks at Glasgow include: Flightpath (minimum eight day stay, 10 minute shuttle bus transfer to the airport), Glasgow Airpark Ltd (3000 spaces with a minimum stay of 1 day), CPS Personal Parking (who provide a 'Meet and Greet' service) and Flying Scot (competitively priced with a minimum three day stay.
These days most airport car parks are tight on security. However, it's still wise to check what precautions are in place (it's difficult to think of anything that would ruin your holiday homecoming more quickly than to return and find your car damaged or broken into).
